Finally, a Home Saturday
The Bears' 2026 home slate opens for real this weekend: UNC hosts Northeastern State on Saturday, September 19, at 6 p.m. at Nottingham Field. After a one-point loss to Weber State, a fourth-quarter fade against a ranked South Dakota team, and last week's trip to FBS Wyoming, this is the most winnable game on the early schedule — and the first chance for Greeley to show up loud at home.
Why This One Matters
Early-season records lie, but home crowds don't. An offense that's shown real life — sustained drives, big plays downfield — needs a building behind it. Saturday's opponent comes in as the kind of matchup a team uses to get right before conference play, and next week is Homecoming vs. Utah Tech on September 26. Two straight home Saturdays. No excuses.
Friday Night First
Before the Bears, it's Friday night lights across Greeley tonight — West, Central, Northridge, University, Frontier Academy and the rest are in week-four action. One note for tonight's bleacher crowds: smoke from a Weld County fire hazed up the area Friday morning, but forecasters expect shifting winds and possible rain to improve air quality by evening. Our full smoke report is here.
