The Record Doesn't Tell the Whole Story
The Bears sit at 0-2, but both losses had more fight in them than the standings show. The season opener against Weber State came down to a single point, 30-29, with a comeback that fell just short at Nottingham Field. Then last Saturday, No. 11 South Dakota pulled away in the second half for a 38-23 win.
Signs of Life
Against a top-15 opponent, UNC out-gained expectations: quarterback Kenny Lueth threw for 201 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown strike to Trey Olsen on the opening drive, and the Bears actually won the possession battle by a wide margin, holding the ball for nearly 36 minutes with 377 total yards. The Coyotes have now beaten UNC five straight times, but this one was closer than the final suggests until the fourth quarter.
Tomorrow: At Wyoming
Saturday, September 12, the Bears head up US-85 to Laramie to face FBS Wyoming at War Memorial Stadium — kickoff at 2 p.m. Mountain on MW+. It's one of the easiest road trips on the schedule for Greeley fans who want to travel loud.
Then Back Home
UNC returns to Nottingham Field on September 19 vs. Northeastern State (6 p.m.) and September 26 vs. Utah Tech for Homecoming. An 0-2 team with a live offense needs its building loud. Show up.
