One City, Three Teams, One Big Week
Crosstown week came and went in Greeley, and the Spartans own the city. Greeley West beat both of its District 6 rivals back-to-back — shutting out Northridge 7-0, then rolling past Greeley Central 49-16 in the crosstown football clash. West's city sweep came sandwiched between a gritty 34-26 win over Gateway and a narrow 35-28 loss to Silver Creek that snapped the streak.
Around the Gridiron
Northridge's season has been a rollercoaster: the Grizzlies pounded Greeley Central 37-13 on September 4 behind a 247-yard rushing night, edged Glenwood Springs 7-6, then ran into a buzzsaw at Legion Field, falling 46-0 to Fort Morgan. Greeley Central is still hunting its first win of the fall — the Wildcats travel to Mountain View this week looking to get in the column, with Thompson Valley and a home date against Severance right behind it.
Pitch Perfect: Northridge Soccer Is Rolling
The best story in town right now might be on the soccer pitch. Northridge boys soccer sits at 4-2-1 after hammering Greeley West 11-1 on Thursday — the Grizzlies' third straight win over the Spartans and their third road win in their last four tries. West had just picked up its first victory of the season, a 3-0 shutout of Rocky Mountain on Tuesday, before running into the Grizzly buzzsaw.
The Week Ahead
Football league play is heating up as September winds down — Central at Mountain View and Thompson Valley, Northridge chasing consistency, and West looking to bounce back and prove the city sweep was no fluke.
