Why We Verify
A community poll is only worth something if nobody can stuff the box. So on GreeAlityTV, unverified votes never appear in results. Not weighted down, not asterisked — filtered out entirely until they're confirmed.
How It Works Today: Email Verification
- You cast your vote on any open poll.
- We send a one-time magic link to your email.
- Your vote sits as pending — invisible in the tallies — until you click that link.
- Once you confirm, your vote is marked verified and counted. One verified vote per person, per poll.
Change your mind before verifying? No problem — only confirmed votes are ever counted.
What's Coming: Postcard Verification
Email proves a person; a postcard proves a neighbor. We're building an optional second tier modeled on how Google verifies businesses: a physical postcard mailed to your address with a unique code. Verify it, and your account carries a "Verified Neighbor" mark — proof that the voices in our tallies actually live here.
Email verification is the foundation. The postcard is the icing on the cake.
Why This Matters
When we walk into a council chamber with poll results, we want no one to be able to wave them away as internet noise. Verified numbers are hard to ignore. That's the point.
